Ares Press aspires to publish writing that will rank among what Matthew Arnold has called “the best that has been thought and said.” Because we launch as a fiction house, we seek stories that ably communicate the essence of being human: the emotions and ambitions, the adventures and hardships, the wit and mistakes. The full likeness of life, we hope, will find expression in our corpus of works.

We welcome submissions from all. If you have written something that you believe is worthy of a wide readership, we would like to know about it. It does not matter to us if you have not been published before; Excellence is indifferent to credentials.

We ask that you provide the following information in an email submission (with each section labeled clearly):

• A brief synopsis of the work you are asking us to consider
• Your pitch
• The first few pages of the work
• A short selection of one of your favorite parts of the work
• A description of your background (e.g., education, occupation, experience - anything you consider relevant)

Please paste these materials directly into the body of your email. Do not send attachments. They will not be opened.

Email your submission to submissions@ares-press.com. Please type “Submission” in the subject line, along with the title of your work.
